    Hi,
I’ve been testing ULEAD’s DVD Movie Factory in order to convert min-DV tapes to DVD. This is useful for us for watching the raw material, as an alternative to converting to VHS, like we did before. However, I have yet to devise a way to convert to DVD while still displaying the time code, which is a requirement. Do you think this should be done by using some function of the tape itself? Is there a utility that does this?

You’ll need to add the timecode in your editing application. Obviously timecode in vision on record is out and DVD doesn’t support in vision timecode unless it is ‘burnt-in’ with the original source.

If you have access to Premiere Pro 1.5, there is a plugin effect which can be added to the PP timeline and encoded to DVD. There is another thread on this subject nearby, and below this one on DV Date, an “effect” plugin for PP.
