Well, if you had a capture device such as an io or a Kona2 and removed the pulldown the 24p would be all progressive, and you’d be editing in a 23.98 timebase. If the footage was shot 24p advanced and you want to bring it in firewire, then you’d be at 23.98 timeline there too. Also, a reverse telecine will work, just not on firewire captured footage.
DV50 29.97 is lower field first, that’s what you need to set compressor. Glad you are a happy camper. It’s usually a flip of a switch somewhere that turns your project from garbage to beauty or vice versa.
