DVCPRO25/50 Editing
Hi,
I’m trying to come up with an editing solution for Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 on WinXP SP2 using DVCPRO25/50 codecs.
I don’t really care at this point if its a software only solution, or a software/hardware solution.I really need to be able to capture DVCPRO footage off my Panasonic AJ-SD93 deck, in both 25 or 50Mbs rates over FireWire into Premiere.
I also need to mix bewteen both 25 and 50 codecs on the same timeline, if possible, and then output back in DVCPRO50 to the deck over FireWire again.Anyone have any ideas/experience with this?

Hi David-
I tried unsuccessfully to get DV50 into PremierePro via firewire using that very same deck. Installing the Mainconcept DV50 codec gave me the option of exporting in that format but not capturing. I ended up doing the project on a Mac (FCP has native support). I was really surprised (and saddened) that PPro couldn’t do it. You wouldn’t have any problem getting the DV25 footage in, but the 50 is another story.
The only hardware solution I see out there that advertises DV50 support using PPro is the Matrox Axio, although it might be out of your price range if you were looking at Decklinks (I saw your post over there).
Sorry. I know it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. If you end up finding something that works, I’d be interested to hear about it…

It looks like i might have to splurge and buy the Axio.
Has anyone tried the software Matrox DVCPRO50 codecs?

Anyone managed to use AJ-SD93 (50M) with Premiere Pro? it works as mentioned earlier with 25M, but every time I press capture with 50, it restarts the computer..
