I have a Powerbook G4 1.67 running Leopard 10.5.4 (QT 7.4.5), and I am running Avid 3.0. I am trying to capture DVCPRO HD from a 1400 deck via firewire, using my Powerbook G4 and an eSATA drive. I keep getting the error that video and audio were lost. I have set up my Deck Configuration as Firewire on OHCI, as NO PORT doesn’t work.

How can I tell if Avid is getting a signal or not? FCP has that nice window that shows me, Avid does not. Been a while since I had to capture on an Avid.

    Thanks,

    Shane

    Shane,
With v3, the 1.67 GHz G4 Powerbook is no longer on the approved systems list, AFAIK. Folks are running 3.0.1 on it, but I would not expect it to be able to capture any flavor of HD. How much RAM is in it?

I figured out the issue…it was a deck setting. I needed to switch it to 1394. But you are right, I cannot capture HD without skipping a LOT of frames.

OK MacBook Pro…here I come. Although I will try the 3.0.1 update first.

    Thanks.

No, no, the 3.0.1 “update” is ONLY meant for Tiger, not Leopard.

Shane, so you’re switching to Avid after all? 🙂
