  • DVCPro HD to DV timeline conversion?

Wow, i’m having a heck of time doing what seems like it should be very simple. I have 13 22 minute HD tv episodes, all in single DVCPro HD (1280 x 1080) files on DVCPro HD timelines in FCP. I simply want to convert them to DV NTSC (720 x 480) QT files in a letterboxed format so the client gets “all the picture” and it isn’t all squished vertically. I’ve tried several variations of codecs, and can’t seem to end up with the letterboxed look. I get some very nice looking DV files, but they “fill the screen” with some very tall skinny people walking around. This had been the source of another thread where i was trying to send these DVCPro HD files to an Avid editor and was directed to download the Avid DV 100 codec…which I did, and it seemed to work fine, but i just figured i would try to send smaller DV files instead via “yousendit” or my iDisk…

it is very frustrating to be struggling with what seems so simple…

    thanks again!

Drag your finished HD timeline into a dv timeline. It should letterbox the footage for you.
