What i need to do is ingest 2 DvcPro hd tapes into final Cut. I can do this no problem. Then I need to convert them to output on Dv Cam or better yet to files on a hard drive in the correct format for an avid workflow. I know next to nothing about avid and its compatible formats. Would exporting a A dv stream quicktime be right. Can someone hold my hand and walk me through the process of converting Dvcpro hd to an 16:9 sd format that an avid editor wont laugh at and call me an idiot. Thanks in advance for any help I get.

If I’m not mistaken there is an Avid codec that can read DVCPRO-HD. This was discussed here last week, you might check the lower threads.

As i’m currently making such a thing, you can be my betatester.
If you need SD, downconverting can be done with anything you like.
(Can be AE, Compressor, FCP etc.)

If you have a TC stream with timecode, i can create Avid mediafiles including TC and Reelname, that the Avid editor does not need to import, he can just open his mediatool and has the clips instantly.

Not only will the Avid editor not laugh at you, he’ll be amazed that it is possible 🙂

However, before we have a working option it will cost at least a week or so. So if you’re in a hurry, it won’t work….

Contact me off list if you’re interested.
