DVCPRO HD Frame Rate Converter Confusion

This may be a relatively easy/obvious question to some of you. I hope so, so you can give me an easy response.
I just got brought into a project thats already been worked on (all the footage was already digitized). Its a documentary- sequence is 1080 pro res.
I have some footage that has already been digitized, but was shot to be converted by the FCP HD Frame Rate Converter to slow motion. It was digitized at 1080 29.97. I am not very familiar with using the frame rate converter (i did watch some tutorials), but trying to use it on those clips that had already been digitized didn’t work. I got the error saying FRC would only work on 720 59.97 clips. And in all the tutorials i watched, everything seemed focused only on 720p footage.
can i use the FRC converter with 1080i footage? Do I need to re-digitize that footage? If so, under what settings? Do I need to down convert to 720?
Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated!

The Frame Rate Converter only works with 720p60 footage…60fps stuff. It doesn’t work with 1080i DVCPRO HD.

Not sure what exact camera was used but I know it was Panasonic and wasn’t the hvx200. Its not p2 footage, its on dvcpro tapes.seems that it was captures as DVCPRO HD 1080i60 29.97fps

Probably the HVX-900, great camera. 1080i/60 IS 29.97. I would love to shoot the person who decided that 1080i / 29.97 is going to be called “60i”. 60 interlaced fields equal 29.97 frames per second. But I guess “60i” sounds cool.
All it does is create a tremendous amount of confusion vs. 720/60 which truly IS 60 frames per second, not 60 fields.

Which is entirely possible, but if you need to conform those movies for slomo, then you need to capture as 720p DVCPro HD and then use the frame rate converter. That is, if it was shot @ 720p.
