I think I may need some help.

I am a first time HD editor, first time FCP6 user, and editing in NTSC rather than PAL for the first time also, and so I am wondering whether this amount of technical viriginty is causing all of my problems on this rather large, complicated charity documentary I am editing.

    Spec:OS 10.4.10, FCP:6.0.1, QT:7.2 on a macbook pro with 2Gb of RAM

Firstly the footage was shot on the Panasonic DVCPRO HD at 59.94 using time of day timecode, so there are alot of timecode breaks. I used the Panasonic DVCPRO HD deck to digitize the footage. I set my setting using the panasonic DVCPRO HD easy set up and I could read and digitize the media fine. But as soon as I tried to digitze to do an offline using the offline RT set up, FCP would no longer let me capture. The capture window would come up, it initialized the deck but when I hit the capture button it just would not respond, the button would not click. I tried every combination of settings, and no joy. So in desperation (as I only had the deck for a limited amount of time,) I captured it all full res.

So now I have my footage in I have spotted that on some of the tapes, the footage is skipping every 5-10 seconds, both the audio and video. Now I know its not the tapes because I dubbing to DVD whilst digitizing and the footage on the dvds are fine. Is my computer not powerful enough to digitize this standard of footage at full res without glitches?

It looks like I may have to re digitize due to audio timecode issues, any advice for second time round capturing or any suggestion to what these problems may be?
