dvcpro HD codec for mac
Posted by Ignacio Demaria on May 13, 2009 at 11:01 pmhey guys, I gotta edit a promo and the quicktime given to me are dvcpro HD. I think is P2 footage. where can I get the codec to properly import those files to final cut pro studio. I have mac os x 10.4.11 PPC

Express doesn’t support DVCPro HD. Only Final Cut Pro or Premiere or Avid or another NLE. But FC Express only supports very limited formats, hence the reduced price (along with a lot of other limitations.)

Unfortunately not, to get Pro level codecs and features you must get Pro level software.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

July 13, 2009 at 12:16 pmYou can look at Panasonic’s download software section to see if there is a transcoder that will fit your workflows. For example, a lot of AVCHD users like to convert their files to p2 to get better performance and Panasonic provides an AVCHD to P2 transcoder. There may be a similar product for what your needs are.

P2 is a card, not a format. A P2 card can record DVCPro HD, DV50, AVI-Intra codec among other things, but to call P2 a format is not correct.
