Heyya Ben,

Funny I saw your post because I am working on this exact same format conversion as we speak. But NO, I do not have this problem. I can drag and drop fine. Did you try a work around by importing to Premiere first then exporting back to AME?? Did you try to “add” from the file menu instead of drag and drop??

But just to mention, I have the MainConcept Codec Pack for Premiere installed along with the Raylight Decoders.

Adobe Media Encoder relies on the codecs installed into the QuickTime system to decode most QuickTime files.

Regarding what DVCPRO HD assets Adobe Media Encoder can import and decode itself, see this page in Adobe Media Encoder Help, which indicates that it can import and decodec DVCPRO HD media in an MXF container.

Thanks for the info guys. I just tried adding a different DVCPRO HD QT file and this one was accepted. I then tried several files and some are fine and work no problem and others are refused. They are all exported from FCP exactly the same so I don’t understand what the problem is (I am switching over from FCP so just getting to grips with the Adobe system.)

I purchased the Production Premium Suite CS5.5, does this include the MainConcept codec pack as part of the installation? I have the DVCPRO HD Quicktime codec installed on my Mac and have never had any issues with this file type through FCP.

Also, how does Premiere Pro handle DVCPRO HD footage and is there a particular workflow I should be aware of?
