  • DVCPRO HD 960×720 confusion

    Hey all,

I have been through a bunch of posts and i THINK i got the info i needed but just want to confirm.

I am loading DVCPROHD 720p60 via firewire into FCP 6.0.4 The pixel aspect ratio says 960×720 after i digitize the clips (i am simply using the DVCPRO HD 720p60 easy setup).

Is this correct? i thought DVCPRO HD we 1280×720?

Do i need to edit in a 960×720 sequence or a 1280×720 sequence?

When i played my footage out to an HD monitor (via the DVI output on my laptop – using cinema display in my playback settings) the image was floating in the middle of the screen. I was just playing individual clips form the viewer.

I plan on screening via intensity pro HDMI to a dell HD monitor but have not installed that hardware yet. Just digitizing right now.

    Any insight is much apprecieated
    best
    Mustafa

The actual pixel resolution of DVCPROHD is 960×720. So it is actually 4X3. But instead of using square pixels, it uses rectangular pixels, so it stretches the image to reach 1280×720 on playback.

So your sequence frame size will be set to 960×720 with the pixel aspect ratio set to HD (960×720). This will playback DVCPROHD files.

Did you have the cinema playback set to RAW or Full screen?
