AM I CRAZY OR JUST GOING ABOUT WRONG? IS THERE A WAY TO GET A CENTER CROP LIKE MY AJA DOWN CONVERT DOES THAT WILL GIVE ME A SD VERSION OF SOME HD FOOTAGE THAT IS NOT SQUEEZED OR STRETCHED IN THE FINAL LOOK. DONE MANY TRIES IN COMPRESSOR..ENDED UP JUST RENEDERING IT OUT ON MY FCP TIMELINE. WHAT IS THE CLEANEST WORKFLOW?

Depends…is there a way you can undo the caps lock so you aren’t shouting please?

    Thank you.

IN Compressor, in the INSPECTOR, in the GEOMETRY tab (second from the right), choose CROP TO: 4:3 (1.33:1). That will show you a red box on the image and what will be retained will be inside the red box. This is a standard center crop.

Try a small sample to see if it does what you want.
