  • DVCPRO HD 720p cross conversion? Possible?

Hi..does this feature actually work for anyone?
I’m using Decklink HD extreme, 6.6.2 drivers, OSX 10.4.11 and FCP 6.0.2. I’ve tried everything but i cant get the cross conversion to work from 720p to 1080i. Footage was shot on panasonic P2 at 720p, and i’m using the Blackmagic 720p 50 DVCPRO HD setup in FCP. It plays out fine via SDI as 720p to my monitor but i need to dump out to a HDCAM deck which will only accept a 1080 signal. So i’m stuck with projects on my drive that i cant get out of the machine at the moment. When i try using the cross conversion feature in the decklink driver all i get is noise and static. The conversion works fine going from SD to HD and vice versa, its only the 720p conversion that is not working.

    Any suggestions?

    cheers

This is a total hack but it might work.
change your preset to the appropriate 1080 easy setup.
create a new sequence. Copy and paste the footage from your 720p timeline into the new 1080p timeline.
You might have to scale everything up(use paste attributes), but FCP should be able to handle that in realtime without rendering.
