    Hello,

I’m having difficulty importing some footage into PP1.5. Everything seems to import (timecode, sound) but the image is nothing but virgin white (one time I got a nice grey…) I had the DVCPRO50 material digitized somewhere, by some guy. Wish I had done it myself, but there you have it. I have no idea what the guy did, precisely. All I have is the fragmented information he impatiently threw at me over the phone, before he disappeared on vacation for a month (or stopped returning my calls, I can’t tell.) I’ll list all the specs I can think of, in the hopes that somebody here can help.

Here’s what I know: My footage was shot on DVCPRO50, 24P, 16/9 with the SDX 900. My system is Windows XP SP2 (yes, PC). My CPU is 2GHz – 1.5Gb ram. My video card is 256Mg, nVidia GeForce FX-5500.

Here’s what the guy told me: He captured via Final Cut Pro (yes, Mac), used a DVCPRO codec, .mov files. That’s all I know. None of the files were returned to me with extensions. I assume this to be a Mac to PC problem. So I stuck my own “.mov” extension on them. Still nothing.

One last thing, neither QT 6.5 or 7 will import the files. Instead, I get the now standard white screen.

This problem can be found in dozens of forums I’ve consulted. The famous “white screen” problem seems fairly widespread. And there appears to be as many solutions as there are cases. Some guy solved it by turnung off hardware acceleration, another person solved it by downloading MainConcept’s DVCPRO codec. Problem is, none of this works for my precious footage.

I could sure use some help – SGM
