I’ve captured footage shot on DVCAM into FCP and it looks very pixelated, I’ve used a good deck and the correct settings. It’s 720×576. The timeline is set to the same as the footage. Any ideas?

There is no DVCAM setting so I went DV PAL as it was DVCAM Pal – those are the only options there.

DV-Pal is the right easy setup to use for DVCAM footage. Was it shot PAL?
How are you viewing your footage? On the comp. screen?
You need to view your footage on an ext. video monitor!
