DVCAM files from Sony EX1R import into FCP?
Posted by Alexander Wolf on November 21, 2011 at 2:14 pmThe XDCam transfer plugin does not allow me to import the files. I can see the BPAV folder but it is greyed out…
When I go straight into the folder outside of FCP, I can see AVI files that play ok in QT but do not have right aspect ratio. (4:3 as opposed to 16:9)

Hi Alexandre,
That may be just when displayed by QT.
Try importing one of those files to FC and check it as Anamorphic in the Browser to see how it looks.

November 21, 2011 at 4:43 pmThanks, Rafael, I just dragged the AVI files into FCP and that’s just as you said. But what’s the proper procedure for getting XDCAM DVCAM into FCP7??!!

Sorry but no idea. I have an EX-1 and does’n makes SD.Although that makes no much sense, have you tried L&T?
You can rewrap very easily the AVI as QT (open with MPGStreamclip > SAVE AS..QT. no rendering, really fast), but i guess that may be a pain if you have many clips.

November 21, 2011 at 6:27 pmThanks, Rafael. For now it works just dragging them into FCP. I just don’t understand why XDXCAM Transfer doesn’t work the same as with HD. It’s the same folder structure…

Yes but the Transfer main purpose is to re-wrap the MP4 as QT or MFX and here there are no MP4s.
Just be careful when you bring the AVI to FCP. he doesn’t like too much those files.
