DVC PRO HD vs DVC HD (N)
Posted by Dave Presley on January 23, 2009 at 4:56 pmWhy would one shoot in DVC PRO HD when you can get double the amount of time recording in DVC HD (N)? WHat are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

January 23, 2009 at 5:33 pmWell DVCPROHD was initially tied to tape based hardware that had to run at 60i/29.97. It was only when P2 came along and the possibility of recording directly at 23.98/24p became a possibility that this open to shoot “N” was created. So the two formats co-exist on the camera to support either a 23.98 native or a legacy 60i/29.97 post-production workflow. So it’s not really a question of why one over the other so much as what fits best into your workflow.
