DV output from HVR M15U
I am trying to output footage shot on DV to a miniDV tape from FCP6 to my Sony HVR M15U. For some reason the deck indicates that it is still on HDV even though the footage was shot on DV and moreover, when i record and try to playback, nothing seems happens. Please help – even my super editor can’t seem to figure this out!

DID YOU CHECK AND SEE IF YOUR DECK WAS SWITCHED FROM HDV TO DV? I HAVE THE SAME DECK AND JUST PRINTED FROM DV TO DV FROM FCP 6.0.3
MAKE SURE YOUR RECORD MODE IS DV SP AND HDV/DV IS SET TO DV.
THAT IS THE ONLY ADVICE I CAN GIVE, GOOD LUCK!

If you look at your manual that came with the M15U, the Menu function is well explained on how to set the Deck to HDV, DV or Auto and how to switch between the Record Modes.

often times when set for “AUTO” it just doesn’t work.
manually set it and you should be good to go.

Thanks all – figured it out. Deck menu had to be set to DV.
