DV Express capture DV from Sony HDV cam
Hi. I am trying to capture DV footage from a Sony HDV cam via firewire connected directly to the camera. When I open the capture window, I am able to control the tape transport but get no picture in the editor window. Trying to capture creates an error “Exception: Audio video is unexpectedly no longer coming” I’ve tried different Sony deck settings and the generic setting but of course there is no setting to capture from this camera specifically. Is it possible in any way to capture DV directly from this camera with DV Express?

Did you ever figure out what the problem was with this issue?
I’m having a similar error. Avid can control the Sony HVR-Z1U cam, but I have yet to successfully either view the tape contents on Avid or capture anything. Occasionally, I get the audio video unexpectedly… error message.
I’ve followed the advice on the Avid site to no avail. I am on a Dell laptop using a built-in IEEE 1394 DV connection.
I’m thinking that maybe my system needs some kind of driver? There certainly weren’t any included with the camera… and Sony’s tech support site is non-existent.
If you or anyone can share how this might be resolved, I would appreciate it.
