Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using a DV bridge / DV<>AV converter within Vegas.

I want to be able to output the Vegas preview window via firewire to the converter, which will then convert it to analogue so I can view real time preview on a tv or broadcast monitor.

Can anyone recommend any certain devices (have to be external boxes, as using all in one vaio desktop so can’t add internal boards) that they have used well within Vegas or think would be perfectly compatible with Vegas??

Would be especially good if someone knew any relatively cheap solutions too.

At the moment looking at Datavideo DAC100 or Canopus ADVC-110, etc, but even these are a bit pricey for me at the moment.

Many thanks. I’ve watched this forum for ages, and it’s super. Look forward to your responses,

    Ed x

I have a Canopus ADVC-100 and it works great. I bought it 2 years ago and use it a lot.

If you happen to have a dv camcorder, check if it has a “pass thru” feature which will allow you to do what you want. If you don’t, but are shoppong for one, then look for that feature in a camcorder — it could serve as your bridge as well as a camcorder…

btw, I’ve used an old Sony Digital-8 camcorder for this purpose for a couple of years — a TRV120 that I got off eBay for $50.00.

    Regards,
    George
