DV 24 frame export bug

As far as I know the DV specced 24P is actually 23,976.

I am in pal-land so i never do 24p, but i did a little test and yes Mediainfo reads 29,97.
If you set the codec to none, but i do not know if that is what you are looking for the export reads 23.976.

Thanks Tero, I am fully aware of that.

The point is Adobe Media Encoder cannote encode
to a DV 23.976 format which is often used
in ProTools for picture reference.

Hmm. I have a 23,976 DV option in AME CS6. Are you missing the whole preset/codec?

I have the preset.

I have checked media info – it reports 29.97

Spent lots of time trying to solve it.

AME is encoding to 29.97 even though I set it for 23.976 preset.

MAC version by the way.

It wouldn’t surprise me if not many people use that preset which
might be why hardly anyone has noticed.

To get work done, I’ve been reverting to Apple Compressor,
but I prefer to use AME as much as possible.

If someone here has the ability to check, it would be interesting to see what exactly is in the 23.976 DV files that AME and Compressor are producing. The diference may just be in the metadata. I don’t have compressor so I can’t dig into this.

DV does support 23.976, though which method I’m not sure.

If I encode it with apple compressor, then open it in quicktime
and do get info it says 23.98

Everything coming out of AME is 29.97

When I get quicktime movies at 23.98 for sweetening in protools
ame cannot be used.

I would love to get my hands on a 23.976 DV clip made by compressor. Just 10 frames would be enough.
