dump clip to SxS and play on EX30?
Posted by Nick Lammers on October 21, 2009 at 2:14 pmHi. Editing in FCP and was wondering if I can render out a clip that I can then put on the card and play back on the EX30. Perhaps drop into the BPAV file? I could always play through the AJA and digitize/record to the EX30 but just trying to save a step. Thanks.

October 21, 2009 at 2:17 pmYes you can get back to the EX Codec, export as Sony XD Cam. You first need to set the Sequence Audio tape to dual mono and you can put everything back as original. Craig Seeman has a nice little tutorial here somewhere showing each step.
Good Luck

October 21, 2009 at 6:36 pmHmmm. I believe I followed the steps correctly but when I go to the EX30 and hit “thumbnail” I get a “no clip” message. I tried exporting directly to the deck and also to a hard drive and then copying to the deck. Any other thoughts? Thanks.

October 21, 2009 at 7:30 pmOK. Wasn’t using clip browser to export before – now everything is fine. Thanks for all of the help.
Craig, I would like to know which screen capture ap you are using.

Telestream ScreenFlow. It’s got a whole bunch more features than I’m using.

It’s great whether you’re trying to do full blown tutorials or simply show a feature or issue that would be hard to get across with text.
BTW it works well if you’re shooting with your EX and need to grap screen video at equally hi rez. It’s fully integrated with your QuickTime codecs which means you can export to EX .mov or Apple ProRes for easy integration of screen video with your editing work. -

October 22, 2009 at 1:11 pmThanks Craig. I occasionally have to record power point presentations – I will check it out and see if it would be a better option than the scan converter/DVCam deck.
