  • Dumb Question, I know… But… Compression Q

So, I assume this is a stupid question.

But, would someone just answer it. Even if you say…

The answer to your stupid question is _____.

    The question:
I’ve been asked to supply “Uncompressed” video to someone. That is done by selecting “None” for the Compression Type?

They also mentioned the files being 10 bit? I see no option in the Render Settings or Output Modules to specify something like that…

    Help?

Yes doing a NONE in quicktime is uncompressed. In that same dropbox there should be the options “uncompressed 8-bit or 10-bit”..usually at the very bottom.

Okay, cool. Thanks for the clarification on NONE, Uncompressed…

Although I see no choice anywhere for 8 or 10bit…

    Hmm….

hmm, it could be your set-up, im on AE CS3 with a G5 and blackmagic card, and i have the 8-10bit options…i think i get the uncompressed options through my blackmagic card though so that could be it.

you can download the black magic codecs (they are free) here, they grouped by os on the right side of the page.

your client would also need those codecs, though… you could give them those codecs, but they may have a 10-bit codec in mind (fcp, for example, has its own set of apple issued 8 & 10-bit codecs). so you might just ask what 10-bit codec they would like, and where you might be able to get it, or if they could just send it to you.
