Here’s an interesting dilemma. I shoot on a Sony EX3 and a Canon 7D. Both Sony and Canon have their own log and transfer plug in. I normally use the Canon software inside FCP for L&T and use Sony’s external software to do selects and footage conversion..then just import those files into FCP.

However that software has been giving me fits and I want to use the Sony L&T plug in for FCP.

The question is…can the two L&T plug ins co-exist. How do I or FCP know which is the right on for the task at hand. Will it it self select based on what media I want to import from SxS cards from the Sony or SD cards from the 7D (I seriously doubt its that easy but I had to ask)?

    Guidance…?

The L&T plugins also include RED. Obviously you would not be doing folders with mixed codecs so the plugins must work when the specific folder/ file structure is recognised for each format. So do the 7D folders and then do the XDcam folders. L&T will work it out. Obviously you will have to check the prefs for each plugin to make sure you are outputting a common codec (like ProRes422)
