Thoughts on this indie low-budget workflow? For a feature film…

    1. Shoot w/ CineAlta F900r
    2. Dub HDCAM tapes down to XDCAM HD (at HQ 35MBs data rate)
    3. Edit native IMX files with Sony Vegas 7.0 (my favorite NLE)
    4. Color your film with Red Giant Magic Bullet MovieLooks.
    5. Bingo! Render out and you’re happy as a clam. Right?

What do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. I know we’re taking a hit on the HDCAM to XDCAM HD downconvert, but the rez is the same and you end up with a very managable workflow using footage that was acquired with a 2/3 inch 24p HD camera.

Just as long as the F70 deck can deal with 23.98PsF HD-SDI input, I can’t see why this wouldn’t work. That’s the golden question though…it’s documented it can output PsF, but manual says nothing about input.

You’d lose a lot of nice features of XDCAM though, such as clips and such.
