  • Dual monitors AND client monitor?

Posted by Chris Farrington on September 6, 2008 at 9:50 pm

    Hello,

I’m surprised I can’t find this answer by googling, but maybe it’s so basic no one talks about it. I’m trying to go out of a G4 tower to two monitors and a client monitor. I’ve got the dual monitors going, but I’m not clear on how to hook up to the client monitor, which is just a flat panel TV with loads of inputs (but none for firewire). I don’t have any video outputs from the back of the computer. How do I do it?

    Thanks.

You need to buy a capture card (like an old Kona card). I don’t know which models will work with a g4 tower… most cards require a g5/intel mac now.

For an older machine like that I would check AJA.com and see if the Io series will work with that machine. Not really sure quite honestly.

If you want the client to see the desktop mirrored,

Then ATI has several cards with SVIDEO out

Apparently, I just have to buy a conversion box. It takes a signal from firewire and coverts it to analog. About $230.
