I’ve seen DVDs that display the menu as wide screen on 16:9 displays and as side-cropped (Pan & Scan) full screen on 4:3 displays. A sort-of Dual Display Aspect Ratio.
The video is 16:9 with the graphics and menu designed to fit side-cropped within a 4:3 display.
Using IFOEdit to modify the menu IFOs to…
Menu Attributes: 4:3 Pan & Scan + Letterboxed.
Movie Attributes: 16:9 Pan & Scan.
My reference for these settings is the animated classic ‘Wizards’.

It works on Encore Preview as 16:9 and DVD+RW/PC as 16:9, but when I play it in a standalone DVD player the 4:3 trick works, but the Menu cursor highlights do not appear and I cannot advance past the menu.

    Has anyone tried this?

Where are the cursor/highlights actually stored, within the Video_TS folder?
