    Hi,
I have am Avid system with mojo and the DSR-11.
    All worked well, until….

I disconnected the mojo, and connected the DSR-11 directly to the computer. The computer didn’t make any sound, and didn’t recognize any new device in the device manager.

I reconnected the mojo – and now the computer doesn

And firewire cables can go bad, too. Check that if you haven’t. Otherwise, no wise words from me (other than powercycle everything if you haven’t tried that).

When using 6-pin Firewire connectors, it is possible to plug them in around the wrong way, which puts 30v DC down one of the RX/TX pairs. This can (and does) fry firewire chips, on cards and firewire devices. I have seen it stuff a number of drives and even a deck once or twice.

I don’t know for sure if that’s what has happened to you, but it could be. You should be able to get a service centre to check your deck.

    Thank’s.
Would you explain “it is possible to plug them in around the wrong way”?
It does has a special shape, which makes it impossible to connect in another way. Can it be the sides of the cable?
Is there a way to disconnect the DC from the fire wire card, so it wont happened in the future again?

    thank’s again…

The shape of the 6-pin plugs (with the little arrow) is such that it is still possible to plug it in around the wrong way (rotated 180degrees). It usually is a little difficult, but it will go if you force it.

I don’t know about avoiding it.
