You can also transcode the DSLR video with MPEG STREAMCLIP, or COMPRESSOR.

As for “I don’t need to worry about sync because this is a music video”…yes you do. CD’s on set play back at a slightly different speed than imported into an NLE. 44.1khz (CD) vs 48khz (NLE) is one reason. THe CD player playing back at possibly a different speed (I have seen this more than once) is another. Plaing back from a digital player might help.

Just shoot a test first…play back from a player and shoot with a DSLR…just something in the office. Import it and see what happens. ALWAYS TEST before you begin a workflow you have never done before. Iron out issues before you spend a lot of money on production only to find those issues might be crippling.

Thanks a lot guys, the footage has already been shot and I’m being brought in on a rescue edit and was wondering how DSLR differs from other tapeless workflows.

I suppose (hope) they have a fully synced (AC3/Mp3.
