  • DSLR video question: Frame rates on 5D MK III and 6D

    Hello,

I am sure this is a super n00b question but my research so far hasn’t yielded a clear answer, so here goes …

We are using both the 5D MK III and the 6D for video, with settings typically as follows:

    Recording size: 1920 x 1080p
    Recording format: .mp4
    Frame rate: 24 fps
    Compression: ALL-I

When I was editing recently in Premiere Pro CC, I noticed that several clips in my sequence were displayed as having a frame rate of 23.976 fps, not 24.00 fps as I was expecting to see (given the settings I had selected)

    > on page 375/404 in my Canon 6D PDF manual, I see the following text “24p: 23.976 fps”
    > on page 376/404 in my Canon 5D MK III PDF manual, I see “24p: 23.976 fps”

Could someone please confirm if this 23.976 fps in Premiere is normal, or something I need to worry about?

    Cheers,

    Patrick
