I am having a problem that I thought I had solved-

when rendering out quicktimes that are longer than 30 seconds, there are what appear to be missing frames- droppped frames. we had this solved previously but now I am stumped again.

source is 648×486, 30 and 60 fps qt files in a 30 fps or 29.97 comp- interlaced, and rendered to 720×486.

This has worked well for some time making tapes every day.

can’t figure out what has changed-

    any ideas?

    I am using AE 7.0

    Thanks.

they don’t call it drop frame time code for nothin’…

if you’re concerned about the frame rate causing the issue, you should be able to see which frames are ‘dropping.’

as per wikipedia, drop frame time code “drops frame numbers 0 and 1 of the first second of every minute, and includes them when the number of minutes is divisible by ten.” if you footage is dropping those frames, doing what dave said will fix it… and i’m pretty sure that is what’s happening.

(I seem to be echoing Dave a lot lately …)

Yep. When you interpret footage’s frame rate, you don’t actually change it, but you tell AE how to work with it in a comp.

AE doesn’t automatically make sure that every frame is displayed with 30fps footage in a 29.97 fps comp — you have to *tell* it to do that by interpreting the footage the way you want.
