  • Dropped frames or advanced rendering issue?

My name is Garrick Simpson and I am a Film student in South Africa.

While editing a recent class project i came across a minor problem. After working on an edit for roughly 2 hours, rendering as i went along, i discovered that when i played back the sequence it would play the first 2 clips, then freeze on a frame and skip the next 2 clips before continuing to play.

I then exported the sequence using Final Cut Pro 7’s quick time conversion to see if the clip would play once exported. It did and after i exported the sequence as i said the sequence on the timeline played as well.

Can anyone tell me what I did that fixed the problem or more specifically what the initial problem was?

I have noticed similar problems, and it was due to playback settings being too high for the computer. Right below the sequence tab in the timeline there is a drop down menu where you can adjust playback settings. Try lowering them and see if the playback isn’t smoother
