Dropped frames on playback/no visuals
I’m having issues with a project, in that suddenly (meaning I didn’t change any settings) I stopped being able to see the video in the Canvas. Checked that I was on RBG and image not wireframe…
and shortly after I started getting the dropped frames warning, and can not playback (hear but not see) more than a second of footage.Further I am working on a Dual 2 GHz G5, with 1.5 GB of ram, and I moved it to a Dual 2.5 GHz G5 with 4.5 GB of ram and had no issues.
Seeing as I can not use the second computer, is this an issue of not enough Ram? or does anyone have any other possibilities?Any thought welcome

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.Download these free Apple Scripts at

Try to Repair Permissions on your drive(s).
Are the drives nealy full?

Are the drives full?,
they are hovering at the 90% full range. I have 53Gb free of one 500Gb drive.I know not to put anything else on the drive, but would that be the issue, given I have tried that drive and project on another computer and had no issues?
