  • Drop Zone referencing specific timecode

FCPX drop zone is referencing timecode 00:00:00:00 in my Motion 5 template.

How can I use drop zone footage with a different timecode? Or, more accurately, how do I set up my template so it does not reference a specific timecode?

I have never heard of a drop zone “referencing specific timecode“. A drop zone will take anything you throw at it, completely regardless of its timecode.

I’m having the same issue. Latest versions of both Motion and FCPX.

In the Motion template, I have several dropzones about 10 frames apart.

In FCPX, while selecting the frame 0 in all the dropzones of a clip with timecode burned in, instead of having the timecode “reset” to 0 when a dropzone changes (the first one should end in 10 frames and the second start in 0), the timecode is continuous.

Why is this and how can I overcome this?

    Thank you.

It seems there was a bug that was introduced. Now every drop zone starts at the beginning of the animation and it is offset depending on where you click on the Drop Zone.

I go into more detail on this video on my help page on the temporary workaround:

Please let me know if this help and have an amazing day! 🙂

Thank you for your help. But when you have so many dropzones in a template as I do, this just isn’t straight forward enough.

    Hope this gets fixed soon.
