I have a graphic which says, “test” and it is a 3d layer. I have added a video as the fill for this layer. I want to add a drop shadow. But when I add the drop shadow the fill fills it as well.
If I precompose the layer, then I can add the drop shadow, but I have a camera moving very close to the precomposed graphic and it has a pixelated edge.
Is there any way easier than, ‘copy the graphic, make it black, blur it, make it the drop shadow’?

If you’re using the text as a track matte for the video then you’ll want to apply the drop shadow to the video layer. Otherwise you’ll have to be more specific about how it is you’re filling the text with the video.

The text is indeed a track matte for the video. But the video clip is full screen. IF I apply a drop shadow to the video fill I don’t see how it would show up in the comp as a drop shadow behind the letters.
