  • Driver for Sony DV Player GV-D1000

I am trying to use a Sony DV Player (GV-D1000) with a Mac G4 Dual 1.25 DHz Power PC. I am running Tiger 10.4.10 and I am seeking to digitize for use with an Avid Express Pro 5. Video plays in deck and appears to work with system when digitizing but when I play within the Avid, it only plays the audio under a freeze frame of the video.

I looked online for a Mac Driver for the GV-D1000 but I couldn’t find anything.

Are there any drivers out there for this configuration? Is there some other way I can make this work? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

Check your digitize settings. There is a check box that says something like “digitize single frame of video”. Make sure its unchecked….

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, there is no preference like that on this system. When I play the video, audio plays normally and the video stays on the first frame until I stop it – then the image refreshes itself to whatever video frame it is on. I think it is a bug.

It’s not a bug, it’s a problem with your system, most likely graphics card related. You said you’re on a G4 running 10.4.10 and Xpress Pro 5.

First, Tiger 10.4.10 isn’t approved for any release of Xpress Pro. 10.4.09 is, but not .10.

Second, what version of Xpress Pro are you running? You said version 5, which could be 5.2, 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, and all the point releases as well. They all require different things regarding graphics cards and drivers.

Third, what graphics card is in your system, and what driver is installed with it? The majority of the time, when your audio plays but your video stays still until you stop, it’s because you’re running a card that’s not approved and doesn’t work with the program, or your grapics card has the wrong driver installed. Check the ReadMe for the version of XPress Pro you have to find out what card you should be running and what driver.

    Michael.

Ah, so that is what is going on! That makes sense. Thank you! Sorry about not identifying the exact version of the Xpress Pro – it is 5.6. As for a graphics card, I understand that the system has not been augmented in any way.

So I shall reload OS 10.4.9. From what I have read, it should work. Should it not?

I have reinstalled OS 10.4.9 as well as Avid Xpress Pro 5.6. Still no go. It must require another graphics card. Is there a specific graphics card that I should get? All the info I have found address newer systems. Thanks for all your insight.
