drive formatting suggestions
Hi there. I’ve added 2 320 GB internal SATA drives to our edit system. Most of my work is DV resolution but there will be some occasional projects where I’ll work/online with 1:1 footage. I need to work with OMF media. Just wondering the best way to format the drives. I considered striping the two 320’s together but I realize Avid/Windows doesn’t like more than 10,000 files within an OMF folder. I considered partitioning one drive into thirds. Perhaps the other 320 GB can handle the 1:1 footage on it’s own? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Bottom line: There is no reason not to stripe your drives – just give them two partitions.
