drawing a negative vector mask with pen tool.
I can not figure out a quick way to draw a negative shape with the pen tool into an existing vector mask.
The only way I can figure out how to do this currently is:
1. draw a vector shape .
2. in the layers panel, Command Option Drag that vector object on my layer with a photo on it.
3. Draw a new vector layer to later use as the negative vector shape.
4. copy that shape.
5. select the vector mask that is already applied to the photo.
6. paste the second vectorshape
7. convert it to negative.This seems like too many steps so there must be a better way.
Is there a way to just start drawing in negative mode into an existing vector mask?

Once you have a vector mask attached to a layer, just select the mask in the layers panel and draw your new shapes into that existing mask.
If the shapes don’t interact correctly (become negative) check the paths options in the control panel. In CS6 it should look like this :

Oh, I see what I was doing wrong.
Its just like what you said except for one step I was missing. In CS6 in order to draw into an existing vector mask you need to be in PATH mode not SHAPE mode.
