DP looking for good monitor
Hey guys, I’m usually on the DP type forums and I though I would check here. Just recently had main home computer die. And now looking to have my editor (Prem editor BTW) friend build me a new PC. Going to have him set it up for some basic editing I can do. Just want to cut some of my DP demo stuff. But the main question is that I would like to finally see my HD stuff on a real 1080 monitor. Always a 720 Panasonic 1710. Plus as a DP I would like to see what you editors are seeing. Does anyone know of something that would work for me that would have no problem with 1080 and not stutter with motion and have very good color. Any chance I could find something under $600 or so?

I don’t think that you will find a 1080P broadcast monitor, or anything close for $600.00, not yet at least.
If all you are looking for is a monitor, take a look at the HP DreamColor, they start at around $1000.00
There was a review on the Cow for this a while back as well.

Close to broadcast..at least? It will the computer monitor. Have 2 of the broadcast 720 Panasonic’s. What would get me close to a $1000 monitor. Thx

FYI, the DreamColor is $2000-2500.
From my experience, I prefer the image quality from my Eizo CG243W more than my 1710w. However, for under $1000, look at the NEC PA241W-BK ($800) and add an i1 for calibration, but check NEC to make sure the i1 works with their software because this NEC uses hardware calibration.
