I have footage in HDV and want to down convert to SD for the edit. Have a Sony HVR-M25 and know that it can auto-downconvert. Using FCP 6.0 can anyone tell me how I do this please – learning the ropes with VTR and FCP so all advice appreciated.

I don’t know for sure as I have never used that deck, but I would imagine you put the firewire output to dv mode (from HDV) and then use an FCP dv easy setup.

I have that deck and do that all the time.

You’ll need to go into the Menu and then go down to the I-Link settings and under there will be all your choices.

We have ours set to Squeeze on the down convert because when we drop it into our 4 x 3 time line it gives us the letterbox look that we are after.
