    Hey…

I am working on some footage for my church and I shot everything in HDV 1080i60 and have edited it as such with a 16:9 aspect ratio. My church’s video system is SD with a 4:3 aspect ratio. It will play my file but it squishes it and the project just doesn’t look good. I am wondering how to down convert and letterbox my project so that it displays correctly at 4:3 SD. Is there an option in the export menu that would allow me to letterbox my project so it will look right since my final destination for this file is a 4:3 SD video projection system? This may be a dumb question but any help is appreciated!

    Yay for anamorphic.

    That should answer your question.

The best quality that I have found for a 4×3 downconvert from HDV is to output the HDV sequence back to tape, and then set the deck for 4×3 crop. This looks better than the software only solution. But I believe that only the deck has the 4×3 option… the camera may only have letterbox or squeezed.
