Down-converted clips from HVR-MRC1 Card Recorder require render in FCP 5?
Hello,
I’m editing DV clips transfered from the HRV-MRC1 unit (down-converted from the HDV-Z7) in FCP 5.1.4. I’m having a bit of a hard time understanding what sequence settings to use.
At first I had the project defaulted to my regular DV pre-set but I noticed the clips required rendering and the video signal wouldn’t run out of my sequence to my monitor (via FW out) yet they would run ok from the viewer window to the monitor (??)
So I started fiddling around with the sequence settings. When I set the sequence to HDV 720 24p the video would play in real time out to my monitor but still requires rendering in the timeline.
I also noticed that when I export a self-contained movie – at either HDV or regular DV codecs – and reimport it back into FCP it again requires rendering when placed in the timeline.
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I thought editing the down-converted DV files was supposed to work in the same way as my regularly digitized ones – except for being in an anamorphic sequence…?
