Double Capturing on ‘Batch Capture’
Hello,
I’m onlining a 98 minute program where most of the material is HDV footage. I am capturing all HDV material using a SONY HVR-1500A deck allowing me to capture the footage as “full HD” straight to ProRes(HQ).
Here are the details:
-HDV footage is HDV1080i60
-Deck is SONY HVR-1500A feeding video to system using HD SDI and controlled using RS-422 9pin cable
-FCP 6.0.5
-Kona3 capture card
-Capture settings: AJA Kona3: 1080i 29.97 Apple ProRes 422(HQ)The problem is that I’ve realized that everything is being digitized twice. When I look in the “Capture Scratch” folder on my system I see two QuickTime movies for each clip. For example:
Mike eats dinner
Mike eats dinner-2
I’ve checked the files out and they are identical except for FRAME RATE! And not always consistently so. For instance, one pair has frame rates of 29.64 & 29.67, while another has 29.62 & 29.51, and another is 29.78 & 29.82.
Now, these wacky frame rates seem to be false because they play down identically, to the frame, in FCP. It’s probably misread by QT player. But my main issue is that I’m spending twice as much time as I need digitizing.
Any ideas?
