We kept a few dongles so that we can move our seat around.

For some reason of late its been a PITA with these Avid dongles.

Is anyone else experiencing this lately?

So far Ive had no luck other than sticking to the same workstation.

Very useless and hoping this is not a cloud issue.

If it is then whats the point of having a dongle?

You mean you move it to another station and MC won’t launch? What versions of everything are you running (dongles and MC)?

Never had a dongle problem unless the dongle is faulty. Had a few that didn’t connect unless wiggked. Had Avid replace them.

    Thanks everyone for chiming in.
So far I’ve been trying to stay at MC 8.4.5 on Yosemite/Sierra.
Somethings messed up cause Dongle Mangler states that my dongle expired back in Nov.
Which can’t be since it works in the studio but nowhere else.
Plus it was upgraded prior to expiry date.
I guess it’s time to waste my day with support.

It looks like my issues is that my dongle was flashed with Dongle Manager instead of the new App Manager.
Still a few more hacks at it not quite out of the woods yet.

That would do it. The old dongle manger isn’t able to add the subscription end date. You have to use app manager.

Give Avid support (licensing) a call, and make sure your email on your avid account, matches the dongle SID account and Application manager is aware of those items working together.

I think when 8.0 or 8.2 came out i started having licensing issues with Avid not letting my dongle work with the latest version. Support would have to send me a manual dongle update file for 8.2 and 8.3 and 8.4..it was very annoying. Finally in 8.5 it all worked…not sure what changed, but everything is now on the same page.

And obviously if you are moving from box to box, you do have the same (or earlier) version of Avid on each box?

    Thanks Glenn.
It was a head scratcher for them.
First fix was to use Sentinel drivers and the second was to avoid the Download Dongle Updater from the web site.
They send me a new one to blast with.
