If I make a movie with a DD 5.1 mix (using Vegas), MUST I use the dolby digital logo or should I NOT use it? If not, (due, no doubt to licensing matters), can I write in normal text that it’s in Dolby Digital 5.1. If not, what AM I allowed to write in the credits.

    Thanks,

    Fred

If you don’t pay the licensing fee you cant use the logo (legally). However writing the words should be OK. DISCLAIMER: This is not legal advice, you should contact your attorney :>)

My recommendation would be to go directly to the source.
A user on another Vegas forum had the same question, emailed Dolby and said he wanted to use it for very small quantity giveaways.
They emailed him back permission and even included the artwork.

A search on “logo” on the Dolby site turned up the following page of links.

Seriously, I tried all that. Filled their form in. Received about 12 emails over a period of about 2 weeks, each asking a new question. All of which I answered. Eventually they referred me back to exactly the same web form that I’d filled in in the first place!!!! That’s why I thought I’d try here.

Don’t you just love going round in circles.
