Doing a razor edit during playback…jumps to end of sequence
I have been using Premiere for almost a year now after having been a Final Cut editor for the past 9 years (and an A/B roll editor before that). I can’t seem to describe my problem well enough to get a good Google search out of it, so I’ll try posting here.
For some reason, and this doesn’t happen every time, when I am playing a sequence and want to do a razor edit while it is playing (like when editing to the beat of a song), I’ll hit the keyboard shortcut for “Add Edit to All Tracks”, and the playhead will jump to the very end of the sequence after performing the edit. I have my keyboard mapped to be similar to Final Cut, so the key combination in Ctrl-V. I really don’t think I’m hitting any extra keys while I am doing this, but I’m wondering if I am accidentally toggling some feature that makes the playhead jump to the end, or if this is a software bug, I don’t know.
It’s really frustrating because I keep losing my place when I am editing. It doesn’t happen every time, but I’d say less than half. Sometimes if I start a new sequence and paste all my clips in there, the playhead won’t jump to the end at all, but that doesn’t always solve the issue.
Help!
Thanks!
