Does ProRez 4444 change the display of the frame size?
Posted by Steve Marra on March 25, 2010 at 9:17 pmAnybody run into this issue. Since doing color correction in “Color” and bringing in the corrected footage with the new ProRez 4444, the frame size of our movie is displayed differently. There is a black border around the frame, top, bottom and both sides.
Prior to color correction, and at ProRez 422 (HQ), the frame filled the Canvas frame and no border.
Anybody got a clue here?
Thanks,
Steve

I am assuming they won’t but you had better tell me what the frame sizes are and how you are monitoring the job. Recently I had a 2k job converted from RED to ProRes4444 which displayed larger on my external monitor because it didn’t seem to be scaled down correctly from my Kona 3 card. (ie 2048 to 10920 was not true)
So where are you seeing the bars – FCP screen or external and what I/O card are you using?

The end size is suppose to be 1920 X 1080.

Open the Clip Properties (Com-J) and look if the “Presentation” is the same in both of them.

The color corrected clips coming in from color are 2048 X 1152. Our final movie going to DVD needs to be 1920 X 1080. Do you think this is why the “color” clips come into the the sequence with a black border around the entire frame. When I check the clip’s scale, it reads 93.75%. If we enlarge the frame to 107%, it matches our previous, pre-color corrected version of the movie.
Weird, or just a sequence setting issue?
Thanks,
Steve

The presentation”” changes how a clip is displayed.
The same clip with two different presentations do not match when you put them one on top of the other in FC.
I shoot with the EX-1 (Aperture: Production).
Color change the presentation (no set) of the clips.
The original clips do not match with the output from Color.
