  • Does Media Manager still exist?

Posted by Tim Neighbors on January 27, 2019 at 1:33 am

I am using the latest build of Vegas 16 and wanted to start using Media Manager after all of these years. I don’t see a check box in the general preferences to turn it on. Is it something I need to install? ..or has it been abandoned?
    Thanks!

[Tim Neighbors] “or has it been abandoned?”

Hi Tim, mostly yeah. Pity really. It’s not supported anymore, but still lurks and can be revealed under Internal Prefs. Once in IP type MANAGER and you should see it appear. Set TRUE and I’ve got it revealed. But going forward I’m now using VP Favourites, which has its own issues.

Well almost abandoned, had been pushed aside. As it is now located in the internal preferences tab.

Pushed aside because Media Bins and Tags are supposed to do everything Media Manager could do?
When I heard Media Manager was gone, I wondered how can anyone create any complex project with Vegas without it? Maybe Media Bins and Tags will suffice – I’m just beginning to explore – but I feel Media Manager was far more powerful and user-friendly.

using: Vegas Pro 15, on Windows 10.
wish: in the timeline, batch create subclips from regions* (I know we can\’t create subclips if a region contains multiple clips, but for regions containing only one clip, why can\’t we batch-create subclips? Can we?)
    * (ideally with the option to name the subclip using the region text – either appended to or replacing all or part of the filename)

    thanks Graham.
    What is vegas’s Favourites?

I’m thinking Media Manager is best for what I’m trying to do, but am not familiar with Favourites.
I do a lot of projects for a few clients, so I would love to create a library of old, categorized, easily accessible clips for each of the clients so I don’t have to open and dig through old projects anymore. What do you recommend?
