  • Does Hybrid CMOS III focus compare to speed to Dual Pixel focussing?

I know the Dual Pixel focusing, such as the 70d has,is very fast when shooting videos (Please – I don’t want to get into the accuracy or reliability of tracking, it is not my intention to use continuous auto-focus while recording video at all)

Sometimes I am in unexpected live situations and I need to pull focus quickly, I really like the idea of just being able to touch the screen and then the camera refocuses where I touched. I have lost so much great footage in the past because I just could not change focus quickly and accurately enough

I know focus pulling (or “rack focus”) is very fast with Dual CMOS cameras but what about the latest Canon Rebel T6i and T7i cameras that use Hybrid CMOS AF III?

I’ve read the technical reports, but are there any film makers/videographers with practical experience of the new Rebel cameras in live situations?

I found an answer elsewhere so I will post it here in case anyone else is interested.
Seems the auto focus speeds are so close as to be indistinguishable
