    Hi There,

This is very much related to a previous query I had and is a bit of an emergency as I have a deadline in a few hours,

The question is is does HD footage deterioate when scaled down to fit in an sd sequence? To my I eyes, looking off a computer monitor only, it appears to,

I have created an edit which contains PAL xdcam ex 720p, pro HD 720p and SD 8 bit uncompressed footage.
As the majority of the footage was xdcam ex I created a rough edit using xdcam ex settings. The dvcpro hd and 8 bit footage was automatically scaled up but this did not matter as it was a rough edit,

Now it comes to creating a final edit I am not sure what to do.

I thought that as the 8 bit uncompressed is the ‘smallest’ frame size at 720 x 576 anamorphic I would create a sequence to this size (the client wants an sd quicktime as well). However, when I drop the edit into the new sequence it looks to me that the xdcam ex footage has deterioated in quality. Is this so or am I seeing things? (It is automatically scaled to 80% to fit the 720×576 frame size).

    Any help advice greatfully received,

Any advice on how to preserve quality?
